Cousins Peter and Seth set out to tell their family’s story in a witty and unconventional way. Using animation, playfulness, and humour, the filmmakers share their contrasting childhood experiences – growing up in Toronto and in a remote Indigenous community in Canada. Their memories, conversations, and stories are constantly interrupted and enriched by witty interjections from the filmmakers’ children and by their dogs – no fewer than ten of them appear in the film! Complex themes such as racial identity, colonialism, and the realities of Indigenous communities are consistently approached with humour and improvisation. Animation here does more than simply illustrate: its playful nature also reflects the family’s way of life, freely transforming their stories and memories.

Peter Scriver is a storyteller, hunter, trapper, carver, and writer based in the Shamattawa First Nation, Manitoba. He is currently a Canadian Ranger and maintenance worker at the nursing station in Shamattawa, and a father of nine children. Endless Cookie (2025, co-directed with his half-brother Seth Scriver) is his first feature film.

Seth Scriver is a Toronto-based visual artist, animator, and director known for his raw, humorous, and idiosyncratic style. He rose to prominence with his debut feature film, Asphalt Watches (2013, co-directed with Shayne Ehman), which won the award for Best Canadian First Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013.
