Gérard Courant is a filmmaker, actor, poet and producer of independent French cinema. He created
one of the longest movies in film history called “Le Cinématon” which duration is 203 hours.

Anthology Film Archives

A short portrait of Anthology Film Archives, New York’s museum of independent cinema founded
by Jonas Mekas in 1970. Features interviews with some of the workers including Mekas and some
of his Lithuanian friends.

Pip Chodorov was born in New York. He studied cognitive science at the University of Rochester,
NY and film semiotics at the University of Paris, France. He works in film distribution and is an
active member of Paris experimental film scene since 1994.

Jonas Keeps Shooting Around

A short portrait of Jonas Mekas on the occasion of his 2002 retrospective in Paris (for his 80th
birthday). Through film clips and interviews, Mekas recounts his arrival in America, his early life in
New York and his first filmmaking experiences.

Meanwhile a Butterfly Flies

The film is a portrait of Jonas Mekas, poet and hero of the American counterculture. Julius Ziz’s
poetic documentary is an intimate homage to his friend.

Julius Ziz

Julius Ziz was born in Lithuania now works and lives in Paris. He graduated from the Film Academy in Tbilisi before moving to New York, where he worked with Jonas Mekas at the Anthology Film Archives.

Journey to Paris: Jonas, Adolfas, Pola

In 2003 Pola Chapelle, Jonas & Adolfas Mekas meet at the Cinémathèque Française to remember the time they have spent together. The spirit of the personages of this film are still enviously young.
