Touch

“Touch” is a bright, moving and philosophical vision of the world held by a blind and deaf man, showed through the eyes of a director who loves his character. It is a debut film of Algis Arlauskas telling a story about people, who, despite horrific limitations created by society and nature, still manage to not give up and pursue their goals. The main character is a scientific psychologist, pedagogue, poet, author of several books and co-screenwriter Alexandr Suvurov. He lost his eyesight at three-years-old and his hearing at nine. Through enormous efforts of his own and several other dedicated teachers, Alexandr managed to overcome his silent darkness and create a full life for himself.

Algis Arlauskas Pinedo was born in 1957, in Moscow. After graduating from the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute Arlauskas started working in Moscow Young Generation Theatre. His acting career in cinema started when he was fifteen-years-old. Arlauskas was one of the leading actors in a very popular comedy at the time “Sportloto-82” by Leonid Gaidai. When acting started to seem to not be enough, Arlauskas graduated from filmmaking studies at Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. As a director and a screenwriter, Arlauskas made more than twenty documentary films, two feature films and several short films. In 1991 he moved to Bilbao, Spain.
