The Amateurs

The friendship between Doctor Vitolis Laumakys, and an engineer Adolfas Morėnas, started completely by accident in 1962, on the street whilst fixing a broken motorcycle. How did they suddenly come to start talking about cinema? – Neither of them could tell now, but that very same year in the basement of the Kedainiai Culture House, they would set up an amateur film studio by the name of ‘The Amateur’. Gradually it became one of the most successful amateur film studios in Lithuania – as well as their second home – where in five decades they created almost a hundred short films. Although Vitolis and Adolfas are still actively working, digitalising their film archives, ‘The Amateur’ is facing some unpleasant changes ahead.
