Master and Tatyana

This poetic film is about one famous family of artists in Lithuania. The father, Arūnas Žebriūnas, is a patriarch of Lithuanian cinema. The mother, Giedrė Kaukaitė, is a leading opera singer. The eldest daughter, Monika Žebriūnaitė-Edgar, is a painter, and the youngest daughter, Ūla Ulijona Žebriūnaitė, is a musician. They are all talented personalities, and they all care about their family and their cultural heritage. However, they feel lonely – together with the other people of Lithuania, they suffered from big political changes. This film reveals dramatic aspects of this family and the nation of Lithuania.

Vitas Luckus was an extremely colourful bird, who stood out from the drab background of the Soviet era. His photographs, just like his eccentric lifestyle, have made an impression until now. Here, the life of this Lithuanian artist is shown through the perspective of his relationship with Tatiana Aldag, who became more than just a muse in his life. The story of their tumultuous life together reveals the dark sides of Luckus’ personality, and how his biography fits into the political context of the time.
