The film shows Lithuanian painters living in Canada and the United States, most notably Juozas Bakys, Vytautas K. Jonynas, Romojus Mozoliauskas, Antanas and Anastazija Tamošaitis, Elena Urbaitytė, Adolfas Valeška, Viktoras Vizgirda, Kazimieras Žoromskis, and Giedrė Žumbakienė. In the film, we see scenes shot during Robertas Verba’s visit to Canada and the United States; the film also uses material filmed while the painters stayed in Lithuania. Here are some of their thoughts: “One’s homeland is everything!”, “Nowhere on earth is life easy”, “No matter what we create, it is always Lithuanian in its form, the force of those lines is all Lithuanian”, “Since I was born in the Lithuanian countryside and I grew up, it is still in my blood and no one can take that away from me”, “For me, Lithuania has never been dead”.
